Physiotherapist Pooja Dhamapurkar moved from India to the UK in 2020 to undertake a master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy at Cardiff University, where she developed her knowledge about specific injuries and their implications on sports and daily life.

In 2021 Pooja completed a Sports Trauma Management course which provided her with the knowledge to effectively manage serious traumatic sports injuries, including the assessment and management of head injuries in sports (including concussion & compression), spinal injury assessment and management.

Pooja has also completed a number of UK-accredited certifications, including myofascial release, kinesiology tapping, Dry Needling, cupping, manual therapy, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM), neurodynamic solution and pain biomechanics.
All of which provide her with the skills to alleviate symptoms and reduce pain and swelling of contracted muscles.

Pooja thrives on freeing people from pain and discomfort in the shortest possible time.

She specialises in treating spinal and ankle conditions. Pooja offers both physiotherapy and sports massage therapy appointments in Clapham.

More About Physiotherapist Pooja Dhamapurkar

Pooja started her professional career as an intern with Dr Swapnil, an Olympic Sports Physiotherapist. During this time, she also completed UK-accredited certifications in myofascial release, kinesiology tapping, Dry Needling, cupping, manual therapy; Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM), neurodynamic solution and pain biomechanics.

Pooja also worked with under-16 Badminton and under-16 Tennis tournaments. She successfully assessed and treated acute and chronic injuries with critical thinking and sound clinical reasoning, preventing further complications and injuries.

Later, Pooja operated in a multi-disciplinary sports clinic for a year under Dr Rizwan Khan, a head Sports Physician who has worked with elite cricket players. This opened a window into learning more about one of her favourite sports – Cricket!

Additionally, the clinic had a tie-up with marathon sponsors and thus had high runners cases. Pooja created programs and systematic management plans aimed at getting the athletes back on their feet as quickly as possible.

Pooja also gained experience with JSW Squash Open, a three-day event where she supported athletes with physical preparation and support for the competition.

Pooja is currently working on a CPD course in child protection in sports and physical activity, enabling her to identify, report, and record concerns with young athletes.

When not working or studying, Pooja enjoys the gym and boxing.
