MSK Physiotherapist Dimitra Karyoti specialises in treating sports injuries, pre-and post-operative patients, and chronic pain. 

Born in Greece, Dimitra graduated from the University of East London International program with a First-Class Honors degree. During this time, she also completed various clinical placements, from musculoskeletal outpatients to neurological and cardio-respiratory inpatients. 

She moved to the UK in 2020 after being offered a physiotherapist role in the medico-legal sector. Here provided therapies to patients who suffered from acute injuries such as whiplash, muscle strain/sprains and fractures, and chronic pain. 

Since then, Dimitra has worked in private practice treating a wide range of patients, from amateur athletes to office workers.

Having developed her knowledge and skills in assessment and rehabilitation planning, Dimitra approaches her patients holistically, understanding the importance of physical and mental health on individuals’ well-being. 

Dimitria has a patient-centred approach to physiotherapy, considering all aspects of the patient’s life and individualising the rehabilitation program accordingly to help and support their return to pre-injury and pain-free activities as quickly and safely as possible.

Alongside Physiotherapy, Dimitria also offers sports massage.

Dimitra also worked as a volunteer assistant physiotherapist at summer camps organised by the “Children’s Special Education and Care Centres” in Thessaloniki.

Dimitra has been trained in spinal manipulative therapy and has attended courses held by the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. Her training included High-Velocity Low Amplitude Thrust Manipulation in Cervical, Thoracic, lumbar, SI joint, and upper/ lower extremity for cervicogenic headache, cervicothoracic, lumbar and SI joint and upper/ lower dysfunction. 

She has treated patients as young as 13 and as mature as 75 years old and loves working with people of all backgrounds.  

Dimitra is passionate about hands-on therapy and exercise prescribing, as well as good education regarding the anatomy of healthy bodies, injury prevention and management, and maintaining good body mechanics during daily activities. 

A confident therapist, she uses up-to-date, evidence-based treatments to obtain the best results for various conditions, for example, neck and lower back pain, shoulder pain, knee/ ankle pain, and work-related injuries – getting her patients back to doing what they love most. 

While Dimitria likes treating all types of injuries, she enjoys treating difficult cases of lower limb pain and injuries such as hip and knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, femoroacetabular impingement, ankle sprains and chronic ankle instability. 

Dimitria intends to complete her training in dry needling and Pilates to incorporate these techniques into her rehabilitation programs.
